On June 30, actor Justin Lazard and former "Project Runway" contestant Shannon Fluet got into a fight with management at the Dominican Republic hotel where they were married.
Justin Lazard said in a statement that the newly-weds were disputing a $6,000 charge that was part of their $50,000 wedding. Lazard claims the manager of the Hotel Casa Colonial would not listen to their complaints and insulted Shannon Fluet, who is pregnant, and physically pushed her towards the door. Lazard retaliated and a fight ensued. Immediately upon leaving the hotel, Lazard claims that Shannon Fluet was attacked with a wooden baton by a guard.
The couple has now filed a lawsuit for $50 million against the hotel. Justin Lazard says this sum "was laughed at but we feel is light considering the trauma incurred."
The hotel and Dominican government is worried about how the lawsuit will affect the country’s important tourism industry. The DA has issued warrants for the arrest of the guard and hotel manager Luiggi Di Ciaccio.
