Human Rights Team arranged exposure Visit of Northern Areas.
CHITRAL: Members Board of Directors, Legal Awareness Program for Human Rights (LAPH) Chitral arranged an exposure visit to Northern areas including Hunza valley. LAPH team comprising over male and female members traveled by road via Shundor pass to Gilgit. They visited N-CAB office and meet chairman of National Counseling Arbitration Board (N-CAB) where they were briefed regarding solving of problems of their people at their doorstep by N-CAB. Alam khan Chairman of NCAB said that problems of people deciding in Local CAB in case of one or both parties are not satisfied over the decision they can approach National CAB, International CAB and later on the case is put up before Prince Karaim Aga Khan who is Chairman of International Counseling Arbitration Board. He said that there is wastage of time and money in courts so that is why the Ismaeeli community established different CAB for settlement of all civil cases and some criminal too. The Human Rights activists also visited Karimabad Area Development Organization (KADO). They were briefed regarding creating and providing job opportunities to local women to gain their livelihood by handicrafts and other skill ways. Mater trainers on high level train them and then they were adjusted in different skill and handicraft centers where they preparing best quality of different items.
Local people also have been trained in honey production and honey of Hunza is the top quality in the world. The human rights activists also were motivated to follow KADO policy by training their local women and providing them job opportunities and enabling them for gaining livelihood. The human rights activists also visited Aga Khan Culture Service for Pakistan office where they were briefed regarding preservation of Cultural heritage. The LAPH board of Director members also visited historical Forts of Altit and Baltit at Hunza Valley that have been donated to ACSP, which were converted in pubic museum after renovation. Main objective of the tour was to visit Northern areas, to analyze and to ascertain the real cause of their development on gross root level and establishment of parallel court system as a result they promote their area and settling different problems and issues at domestic level before approaching to the courts of justice where they face wasting of time, money and suffering from mental tention. They were very much impressed by these NGOS and enhanced their capacity building by adopting these principles of Northern areas people which was declared a develop area from the extreme poverty. It is worth to mention here that LAPH is a group of volunteer’s youth working for women empowerment and trailing their cases in courts free of costs. They also rehabilitating widow women by funding them and supporting poor students to minims drop out ratio in the district. These activists are trying of their best to promote the area and empower the women folk by dedicated, committed and volunteer services.
