Kakamega county music and cultural festival at Mumias

Kakamega County music and cultural festival was held today at Mumias Community Cultural Centre and will end tomorrow. The event brought together representives of the 12 sud-counties which make up the Kakamega County.
Groups presenting items from solo, Africa folksongs, mixed secular set pieces, African instruments TO elocutions. It also includes traditional food which aims at helping in food security in the county.
The minister for labour social service culture youths and sport Jamin Muliru said cultural centres which were started by the national government will be completed by the county government. “This will provide employment for youths in the county” he added.
“The main objective is to develop art and cultural exchange in peace building to appreciate culture diversity in Kakamega County and the whole of Kenya,” Said Gaudencia Otipa director of sports culture and art Kakamega County.
She also added that the festival is aiming at putting artists in the limelight for the world market and further more create awareness among residents in the county.
