Jammu, December 15 (Scoop News) –To commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore a two day Literary Festival – ‘Remembering Tagore’- in Tribal and Regional Languages of Jammu and Kashmir was inaugurated here today.
Organized by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation and support of Ministry of Culture Government of India this first ever event in state is aiming to discuss Tagore as a writer, philosopher, poet, composer, painter, essayist, philosopher, educationist and social reformer.
The opening day of the event was attended by prominent writers , poets and intellectuals representing Kashmiri , Dogri , Gojri, Ladakhi , Punjabi Pahari and Balti languages.

Inaugurated by Ch. Taj Mohi-ud Din , Minister for Public Health Engineering and Irrigation who was Chief Guest on the occasion while Mohammad Yusuf Taing Member Legislative Council and Former Director General Culture presided the function.
Welcoming the guests Dr. Javaid Rahi said that this is the first ever event in the State where in the writer fraternity representing seven Tribal and Regional Languages of the state will discuss life, vision, work and philosophy of Tagore thoroughly. He said Tagore was a versatile genius, who was much ahead of his time, wrote in his mother tongue of Banglaand was the first non-European to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature, in 1913.

Ch Taj Mohi-ud Din While appreciating the efforts of Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation for holding a purposeful event in the State described Tagore as one of the greatest luminaries of modern times.He said Tagore is our National Treasure and his proper projection is need of the hour.
He said Tagore’s inspiring poetry, prose expressing his intimacy with nature, his quest for inner truth, the sense of commonality and community that transcends borders and breaks down presumed barriers of religion, race or language.
He said Rabindranath Tagore’s vision on universal brotherhood vibrates well in today’s world. He expressed hope the literary festival willdisseminate the massage and philosophy of Tagore in local languages of State as well.

A musical event was held in the evening where in translated poetry of Tagore in regional languages presented by local artists. Prominent Gojri singer Ch. Bashir Mastna Dogri singer Bishan Dass performances were appreciated by the audience.
