Srinagar, April 07 (Scoop News) –Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon participated in a “Walk for good health” from Nehru Park, today to commemorate World Health Day.
Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Aamir Ali said that the walk was organised by World Health Organisation in association with Valley Citizens Council. 7th April is celebrated every year as the World Health Day to mark the anniversary of the founding of World Health Organisation. World Health Day is a global campaign, to focus on health challenges.
He said that the theme this year was “Ageing & Health-Good Health Adds Life to Years”. The focus is how good health throughout life can help elderly persons to lead full and productive life and be a resourse for their families and communities. Prominent among those who participated in the walk included famous poet Zareef Ahmed Zareef, Journalists Imdad Saqi, Sanjit Kaur, Syed Mubashir Rufai and Farooq Javed, President House Boat Owners Association, Mohammed Azim Tuman, President, KTMF, Jan Mohammed Kaul, prominent citizens A.M.Mir (Retd IAS) Executive Director, J&K Voluntary Health Association, President Shikara Association, Wali Mohammed, Er. Bashir Siraj, Mrs Siraj and representatives of Health Department & Helpage India. Many elderly persons, including youth and children also participated. Mementos and refreshments were given to the participants.
