Kashmir Congress paid rich tributes to Nehru on his 121st Birth Anniversary

Srinagar/Jammu, November 14 (Scoop News) – J&K Pradesh Congress Committee held  a meeting of Prominent Congress Leaders and workers   at Party Headquarters Srinagar today with the aim to pay glowing tributes to Former Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on his 121st  Birth Anniversary. 

While speaking on this occasion Congress Leaders and workers paid floral tributes to Former Prime Minister and lauded  his role  in Nation building and upliftment of poor and down trodden people in the country. Being a secular leader Pt. Jawhar Lal Nehru was a man of upright, peace and people loving personality. During his tenure as Prime Minister he announced and kept a  five year reconstruction plan for development of the country  and due to  his tireless efforts and administrative skills he achieved the goal  and the whole world started recognizing India as a major developing country. His life style was an inspiration for all the people of the country irrespective of caste, creed, colour or religion. His Secular thinking  and Socialistic  approach is a lesson for all. The speakers termed him as  a best and able statesman.

He (Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru) was a children loving person  who always preferred to spent some portion of his time with children and because of that he was popularly known as “Chacha Nehru” and his birth anniversary  is also  called as children’s day. The presentees while paying tributes to the former Prime Minister also lauded  the role  of Nehru Family in Nation building and  appreciated sacrifices they have done for the country. They said the best way to pay tributes to the departed leader is to work unitedly and tirelessly  for  the poor and down trodden people and help those who deserve help.

The meeting was presided over by Gulam Nabi Monga Vice President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee. The meeting was also addressed by G. N. Mir Lasjan General Secretary, Abdul Gani Khan, Master Mohd Maqbool, Farooq Andrabi, Aftab Ahmad Beig, Mohd Sultan Mundoo, Habibullah Hamdani,  Khursheed Ahmad Zargar, Adv. Abdul Rehman Dar,Gulam Mohd Shiekh,  Shameema Raina, Shameema sopori, Jawahira Bano, Nissar Ahmad Khan, Raja Ashraf, Gulam Nabi Mir, Ali Mohd Pant, Mohd Hussain Wada, Abdul Rashid  and others.

It may mention here Pt. Jawhar Lal Nehru was born on November . 14, 1889, at Allahabad in India. He was the first prime minister of independent India He was the  Son of  advocate Motilal Nehru. Nehru was educated at home and in Britain and became a lawyer in 1912. More interested in politics than law, he was impressed by Mohandas K. Gandhi’s approach to Indian independence. His close association with the Indian National Congress began in 1919; in 1929 he became its president, presiding over the historic Lahore session that proclaimed complete independence as India‘s political goal.

Nehru was imprisoned nine times between 1921 and 1945 for his political activity. Shortly before Gandhi’s assassination in 1948, Nehru became the first prime minister of independent India. During his tenure, India clashed with Pakistan over the Kashmir region and with China over the Brahmaputra River valley. He wrested Goa from the Portuguese. Domestically, he promoted democracy, socialism, secularism, and unity, adapting modern values to Indian conditions.

 He died on May 27, 1964, at New Delhi. His daughter, Indira Gandhi, became prime minister two years after his death.
