Jammu, March 19, (Scoop News)- N.N. Vohra, Governor, inaugurated a three day National Seminar on “Contributions of Kashmir to Shaiv Darshan and Sahitya Shastra” at Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Kot- Bhalwal, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor said that Kashmir Shaivism had witnessed signal growth during 8th-12th century AD and contributed to the evolution of philosophical and theological movements in Kashmir during this period.
The Governor, on the occasion, congratulated Prof. Ved Ghai for being honoured with Padamshree this year for her invaluable contributions towards the enrichment of the Sanskrit language and for her enormous contribution to enhancing educational opportunities for the children of the less advantaged segments of society.
The Governor also released “The Vaishnavi”, a souvenir of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, on the occasion.
The function started with Vaidik Mangalacharnam and lightining of the ceremonial Lamp. The proceedings of the function included addresses in Sanskrit by Prof. N.R. Kannan, Vice Chancellor Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Prof. Ved Ghai and Prof. V.M. Shastri, ex-principal, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. Saraswati Vandana and a flute recital were also presented during the function.
The Welcome Address was given by Prof. P.N. Shastry, Principal, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof.Sharad Chander Sharma.
