Jammu, March 16 (Scoop News) – In a significant achievement, the Jammu and Kashmir Industries Limited (JKI) is all set to record highest ever business turnover of over Rs. 6.33 crore during current fiscal as against Rs. 2.61 in last financial year. The business turnover of the company is poised for a quantum jump of about Rs. 11 crore during the next fiscal.
This was stated at the 149th meeting of the Board of Directors of JKI, held at Civil Secretariat, Jammu, which was chaired by the Minister for Industries and Commerce, S.S. Slathia, who is also the Chairman of the company.
The Managing Director, Javed Iqbal informed the meeting that double shift system introduced in various units of JKI since August 2011, has proved very fruitful as the production in Government. Silk factory, Rajbagh has increased to 4000 Meters per month which is equivalent to the full year production during 2010-11. “our efforts shall be to enhance this production to 75000 Meters per month during the next fiscal”, Javed added. He said the production in other units of the company has also shown remarkable improvement with Government Woolen Mills, Bemina recording a production of 61200 Mts by the end of current fiscal. The production of Government Joinery Mills of Jammu and Pampore, Srinagar has also increased.
Speaking on the occasion, Slathia said since the functional units of JKI provide ample scope to achieve higher turnover, the Government has approved ambitious modernization projects to further enhance its manufacture capacity. These include Rs. 2.50 crore modernization production for Woolen Mills Bemina and Rs. 2.75 crore upgradation project for Silk Weaving Factory Rajbagh, “After implementation of these projects, the manufacturing capacity of various types of fibers of Bemina Woolen Mills would increase to 1.60 lakh mts from the exiting level of 75000 Meter per annum”, Slathia added. In addition, yarn manufacturing capacity is also expected to increase to 60,000 Kg. Similarly Silk Weaving factory, Rajbagh would also be capable to produce 3 lakh meter silk fabric.
Slathia said that the since silk produced in the State is of world class quality, a State-of-Art silk showroom will be constructed at Rajbagh Srinagar, at a cost of Rs.85 lakh shortly where silk products will be displayed to capitalized its huge market share. The company has been asked to switch over to high value addition of silk fabric and modern designs to meet the market requirement.
