Jammu/Srinagar,August 22 (Scoop News) -In the wake of continued strikes in Kashmir valley , the nomadic Gujjars Bakerwals who are under migration at upper reaches of Pir Panjal, and Zojila hills in mountain ranges of northern western Himalaya connected with valley are facing intense food-deficit due to acute shortage of food grains and medicines items in all areas connected with (Dhoks) tribal belts.
Voicing for nomads, the Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation-a frontal organization of Gujjars (TRCFOG) in J&K, in a written appeal to State and Central governments , today demanded for an immediate help in shape of providing of food, fodder and medicines to tribal Gujjars and Bakerwals enabling them to sustain their tribal way of life in this extra ordinary situation.
Giving details Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary of Tribal Foundation told that the nomadic Gujjars and Bakerwals who are under seasonal migration to upper reaches of Himalayan mountainous ranges connected with valley are facing deficiency of resources mainly food, fodder and health care articles added that we wrote to state and national agencies to take immediate steps for restoration of food grains supplies in tribal belts including life saving drugs in areas connected to tribal belts in valley.
“The acute shortage of basic amenities in tribal areas also forced the nomadic communities to start early migration towards plane areas 2 month ahead of their routine schedule”, said Dr. Javaid Rahi adding that in many areas our people are in deep trouble due to daily shutdowns.
He said due to landslides, thunder storms and heavy rain during summer months in upper reaches some important routs of nomads got damaged badly which needs an early repairs enabling tribals to move out from difficult areas . The traditional routes for migratory nomads which needs urgent repairs include Jamiya Gali, Gora Batta, Pir Gali Nanansar, Ropadi Dharhal Pass and others.
The foundation has impressed upon various organizations working for tribal in the State to mobilize resources for providing necessary logistics help to the tribes.
