Kashmir Sufi Music Festival-2012

 

Srinagar, October 06 (Scoop News) –    A 2-day Kashmir Sufi Music Festival 2012 SHASHRANG Season 2 was inaugurated at SKICC Auditorium this evening. Minister for Agriculture  Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Higher Education  Abdul Gani Malik, Member Parliament G.N.Ratanpuri and Advisor to Chief Minister  Mubarak Gul were present on the occasion.

            The Festival was organized by the Kashmir Music Club Cooperative Limited, Director Information  Zaffar Ahmed Bhat, Station Director Doordarshan  Qayoom Wadera, Station Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Mrs Rukshana Jabeen, Secretary Academy of Art, Culture and Languages  Khalid Bashir, Gyan Peeth Awardee Prof. Rehman Rahi, Prominent Journalist  Shujat Bhukari and Popular Singer Kailash Mehra attended the function.

            A mesmerizing cultural bonanza was presented by the Artists of Radio, Television and Cultural Academy which enthralled the audience.

            The Ministers on the occasion awarded four artists of high repute namely Ustad Mohammad Abdullah Saitari,  Waheed Jeelani,  Abdul Rashid Hafiz and Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob who were previously chosen and awarded by All India Radio. A CD containing songs of Gyan Peeth Awardee Prof. Rehman Rahi and composed by Waheed Jeelani under the supervision of Secretary Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, was released under the Title “TYMBER-I-PHULAI” by the dignitaries on the occasion. The songs have been sung by Neeraj Pandit, Shazia Basheer and Waheed Jeelani.

            Prof. Rehman Rahi thanked the Kashmir Music Club Cooperative Limited for the honor and respect given to him for his contribution as a great poet and critic.

            The function was sponsored by State Information Department, Cultural Academy, Radio Kashmir, Doordarshan, J&K Bank, SMC, University of Kashmir, Agriculture Department and J&K Tourism Department.
