The seminar which started here today was attended by different scholars, poets, academicians administrative authorities and students not only from the valley but also from outside the valley. In the seminar iqbal’s contribution and his attachment to kashmiri society which is reflected in his poetry was highlighted. He was described as the poet of universal importance taking into account all aspects of human activity social, political, religious, educational and metaphysical.
In his inaugural speech Director Iqbal institute of culture and philosophy professor Basher Ahmad Nahvi described his concept of man hood as dynamic and his poetry as poetry of inspiration , brotherhood and self realization. Speaking on his attachment with the valley he said, he had emotional and cultural attachment with Kashmir.” Divisional commissioner Kashmir, Asgar samoon speaking on the occasion said, “iqbals vision is the vision of future, and his message for the youth is most important. His poetry should be used in a constructive manner he added saying that real tribute to Iqbal will be to introduce Urdu at all levels and make it popular.”
The presidential address was delivered by professor Abdul haq an expert on Iqbaliyat. While describing his love and attachment with the valley he said, “ no poet in the whole world has explained his own nation as by Iqbal has even living far from the nation..” He however lamented “ we have so far not been able to crate a singe encyclopedia on iqbal and the step will be just beginning.”
Registrar Kashmir university, Professor S. Fayaz appreciated the efforts of the institute for their work on the great poet. “ Lot of research and books are being written by researchers. It is a good sign but lot more needs to be done.” He added At the seminar five books were also released on Iqbal and his works. The books are Abdullo hab azam by Dilruba Basher, iqbal te falsafai khudi by Irfan Turabi, Hazar imkan by Dr Farid Parbati, lale toor by sultanul haq shahidi and the annual journal iqbaliyati shumara by professor Basher Ahmad Nahvi.
Others who attended the seminar included , Ajaz ahmed kakroo, Margoob banhali, professor zahoorudin, zarief ahmad zarief and others. Nineteen papers will be presented by different poets, scholars and academicians in the coming two days of the seminar.
