Srinagar, March 16 (Scoop News) – Directorate of Lifelong Learning DLL University of Kashmir organized one day Workshop on “Special Education and Role of Govt. Functionaries” for the field functionaries of Government Departments including Health, Social Welfare, and Rural Development Departments at Town Hall Tral, Pulwama south kashmir .
The programmes one of the many held by DLL KU aims to uplift Differently Abled Children of the valley and have trained coaches for their development . The programme was attended by the local District Administration, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, and various officials from Health, Social Welfare and other Govt. and semi-Govt. organizations including eminent civil society members of District Pulwama. The experts focused on different dimensions of “Special Education” and the role of concerned Government functionaries towards the special group of people. The participants were acknowledged with various welfare schemes, benefits and certification for Differently Able children under the schemes of Persons with Disability Act. They were also provided knowledge regarding the disability, its psychological consequences and the role of field functionaries towards this theme.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner made deliberations about the programme and stressed on providing special education to more and more field functionaries in such genre of workshops.
The experts from Composite Regional Centre(CRC) and Department of Psychology, University of Kashmir made counseling sessions with the participants regarding the various causes and management of different disabilities, both physical and psychological which develop during the developmental process of child or are congenital in origin .
The initiative of the Directorate has been highly appreciated by the participants, scholars and the District Administration. While thanking the Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Riyaz Punjabi for his keen concern towards upliftment of all sections of the society, the participants urged the Director DLL to organize such programmes in future regularly which are directed towards the community development and can benefit the society at large.
