Kashmir University pays tribute to R. N Tagore

 

 

Srinagar, May 07 (Scoop News) –   Kashmir University pays tribute to R. N Tagore, the poet  , educationist and thinker who dedicated his life  to art ,literature and education. The event was celebrated throught  globe. 

 

 Painting competition, symposium and musical concert were part of  150th birth  day celebrations   of Rabindernath Tagore  the  poet novelist,musician, painter  held at  Ghani Bhawan, Kashmir University today.

 

Vice  Chancellor Kashmir University who was the chief guest at the concluding session in the evening said that he  was enthralled by the performances of the Kashmir University students  and said the talent can well represent itself  at the national and the international levels.  Praising  a mimicry performance by one of the DSW artist, Rais Mohid- din  VC  turned nostalgic and said  that he also used to perform the same way as a child. Paying tributes to Rabindarnath Tagore VC asked the youth present on the occasion to draw inspiration form  the life and works of the great poet and educationist. VC advised the  youth to read the life histories of great people and see how they have become  great and  where they are different from other people .

Dean students welfare Prof Neelofar Khan  termed Rabinthar Nath Tagore as a great poet , philosopher and educationist and said that the day long celebrations from Department of students welfare is  a humble tribute  to this great man.

Earlier a symposium was held in the conference room of the Ghandi Bhwan  in which Prof Neelofar khan , DSW KU, Prof Bashar Bashir  , Shahid Ali kahn  cultural officer, Shaeena Kanth Literary officer, shareen and Nowsheeen from sociology department and sarmat Mehraj  participated and presented their opinions and view points on the literature of Rabindar Nath Tagore.

   In the first session the students from Kashmir university model school participated in an art competition. Amir Nazir lone,10th ,and Yaraf from class 7th shared the first prize, Nasreen nabi  and Aaliya Mehraj  from 5th and 10th class respectively shared the second prize, and Noor Ahsan-ul Haq ,and Faiza Noor  shared the third prize at the event .  Four consolation prizes were also given on the occasion which went to Porisa Nazir,Nowsheen Noor , Khushboo malik, and Madiha,. The prizes were given away to the students by Vice Chancellor in the concluding session. Later the day  Vice chancellor unveiled a portrait of Rabindar Nath Tagore made in water colors on canvass by Sheila Arif , Assistant cultural officer of KU. VC was all praise for the portrait.
