Kashmiri children meet President of India

  Jammu/Srinagar, February 22 (Scoop News) –  A delegation of school children from militancy affected downtown area of Srinagar (J&K) met the  President of India, Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on Tuesday. The delegation led by Lt Col HP Singh and Maj BK Randhawa of Chinar Corps, consisted of thirty three school children and two teachers. They also presented a memento to the Hon’ble President. 

        According to defence spokesman that the Army had sponsored the tour under operation – Sadhbhavna from February 17 to March 2. The delegation is scheduled to visit Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Ajmer. Apart from sightseeing these school children will be meeting some of the high ranking officials of Indian Army and civil dignitaries during the visit.

        These children will also get an opportunity to interact with other school children of different institutions and get a firsthand experience of the latest developments in all spheres of life outside Kashmir Valley.

         The aim of visit by the school children is to interact with the children and people of other parts of the country with a view to expose them to the rich socio-cultural heritage of our country. This would also help in widening their horizon and moulding them into the national mainstream and to become good citizens of our great Nation.
