Srinagar, August 29 (Scoop News) – While lambasting on the role of opposition PDP party in the State, the Union Minister for Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdulla said that this party for the sake of power is actually orchestrating the present macabre situation of violence.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah while in his interview to a local news agency of Srinagar said that in 1990’s similar situation was created by then Home Minister, Mufti Sayeed when Mr. Jagmohan was brought to the State as Governor as a result of which he had to resign. While taking over the reign of Government Mufti Sayeed and Mr. Jagmohan in the very first week of their rule caused death of over 200 innocent persons who were holding peaceful protests.
Asking PDP that who brought AFSPA to J&K, he said and added that it is nobody else but Mufti Sayeed who is responsible for imposition of AFSPA. He questioned Mufti Sayeed that was he not in the capacity of then Home Minister of India really responsible for the killing of great leaders like Moulana Molvi Farooq and asked him on whose instructions the funeral procession of Molve Mohammad Farooq was fired upon. He said during the same time entire Handwara bazaar was burnt down and hundred of such episodes repeated in all nook and corner under his command as Home Minister.
He said that it was during my Chief Ministership tenure when negotiations were held with the top leadership of Hizbul-Mujahideen directly, but during Mufti’s regime all the top ranking Commanders of the outfit were eliminated one by one who had participated in the peaceful negotiations. The speaks volumes about double standards and dual role of PDP and its sincerity towards the people of the State.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that they have started a campaign against me and always try to mislead the people through their agents. He made it clear that during his speech in the Parliament he said that Government of India should not rule the land but learn to rule the hearts of the people.
The Union Minister blamed PDP for making huge investment and finance in fomenting trouble and launching a vicious campaign against all of us. They always make futile attempt through their paid agents to damage the image of our party and cash the same for their benefit.
Dr. Abdullah said that the cadres of PDP are responsible for instigating youth to violence so that the political problem is translating into power game only.
Expressing deep concern on the deteriorating plight of poor tradesmen, poneywallas, labourers, taxi-operators, auto drivers, transporters, hoteliers, shikarawalas, poor farmers and small scale industries who are suffering as a result of continues hartals,Dr. Farooq said that his heart bleeds for all of them. He said that unfortunately young boys are being instigated by elements working behind the curtain for regaining their lost power in the State and this entire suffering of people and bloodsheds is a result of clandestine conspiracies.
Dr. Farooq made it clear that he has been from the very begging advocating autonomy for J&K adding that it is only through autonomy that people would be able to live in dignity, peace and prosperity. However, he said that if anybody has better solution with in the frame work of constitution let it be freely discussed amidst amicable atmosphere. He said it is imperative upon the Government of India to expedite the process of negotiation for the purpose, so that durable solution is found to the vital problem. He said the huge financial assistance provided by the Government of India to the State sustains the State’s economy, which is not possible through our meagre resources.
He said that Pakistan is presently in extreme turmoil, on the one hand it is facing terrorism and on the other it is confronted with unprecedented floods. He said even Pakistan had now agrees to accept the financial aid of India through different modes, which is clear indication of improving friendly relations between the two countries. He said even Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh as made it clear that the only way out for resolving the issues between the two countries is through serious negotiations. He prayed to God that India and Pakistan come much closer to each other so that pending issues including so that all the issues are resolved. He said it is unfortunate that the territory of J&K existing at the time of Maharaja is fragmented into parts. He said that negotiations are required for solving the sufferings of people and departed families. He said that the war is no solution to the problem as the two countries fought three wars which only brought destruction without yielding any result.
Dr. Farooq said that there are some forces bent upon destroying the real character of Article of 370 which has given special status to out State. These forces were active earlier also when Janta Party was formed and green turban were put on the head of Murarji Desai the then Prime Minister of India, with the agenda of destabilising the then Government of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. He said the people of J&K are very much cautious about the designs of these inimical forces and their masters, adding that the results of 1977 elections are known to all.
Dr. Abdullah said that the people have now realized the evil designs of PDP and started exposing them and their clandestine agenda. He said that people should also realize that the long pending Kashmir issue cannot be resolved within month and therefore should not become prey in the hands of ugly forces to label the present turmoil as a movement for change of Government. He said that political problems are required to be addressed in a proper manner paving way for sustained, useful and result oriented dialogue with separatists which must be started soon. He cautioned the Centre to identify the igniting sparks at initial stage and endeavour hard to extinguish the same by addressing the genuine issues promptly.
He said that he represents the sentiment of the people and his party has a bright track record of scarifies made for the people of J&K, he vowed that till red flag of plough rattles in air, our struggle for dignified place will continue. He said that the propaganda of one political party against them can not erase the golden chapters of history.
