In a joint press conference addressed by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secretary, ASKPC, D.N.Kissu, Chairman, NCMCC, Virender Raina, Joint Forum Spokesperson and Chuni Lal Bhat, President, Purkhoo camp unit of the Joint Forum,said that statement is highly provocative, anti-India and has cleared the image of Omar Abdullah, who is practically following the agenda of separatists with the blessing of Central Government and Congress party.
Ashwani Chrungoo said that the statement given by the Chief Minister in the State Assembly has created a very difficult and unpalatable situation for the nation. In the normal circumstances, it is the Chief Minister who is the guardian of the constitutional frontiers of the nation in the state but on the other hand he has given a statement which amply borders on sedition.
He said the Government of India needs to take a very strong cognizance of the matter which is not evident at present due to its stocking silence on the subject. The Government of India also needs to clarify whether the said statement had prior understanding and approval of the coalition partner, the Congress party.
Ashwani said that,we are thankful the role played by the Opposition members of the Assembly belonging to the BJP, Panthers Party and Jammu State Morcha that the issue received stiff resistance and national attention. The Chief Minister has made the statement in contravention of the Constitutional position and unanimous Parliamentary resolution of 1994 on
H.L.Chata said that, It is a matter of great concern that the C.M Omar Abdullahs statement has been appreciated by the secessionist elements of Kamir and has helped forward their illegitimate agenda in the Assembly of the state. In such a situation, it becomes very difficult to differentiate between the legally elected representative of the state and the secessionist leaders. The Central government ould immediately remove the Chief Minister and follow the footsteps taken in similar circumstances by its predecessor in 1953. The Chief Minister seems to put in place wrong arguments by suggesting that the merger is incomplete while the fact of the matter is that the accession was ratified by both the Constituent Assembly as well as by the State Assembly.
