Katra-Qazigund stretch of railway line to complete in 2017: Sagar

Srinagar, October 04 (Scoop News) –  The work on the Railway line from Udhampur to Srinagar is in progress and its 95 percent of Udhampur to katra stretch has been completed while as 30 percent of Katra-Qazigund stretch stands also completed.

This was stated by the Minster for Rural Development,  Ali Mohammad Sagar in reply to a question of Vijay Bakaya in Legislative Council today.

He said the project is schedule to be completed in two phases including Udhampur-Katra stretch in March 2012 and Katra-Qazigund stretch in December 2017.

61 kanals of land identified for Poonch campus of JU – About 61 kanals of land have been identified Poonch Campus of Jammu University at Poonch and indent placed with Deputy Commissioner, Poonch.

This was stated by the Minister for Higher Education,  Abdul Gani Malik in reply to a question of  Jahangir Hussain Mir in the Legislative Council today. He said University Campus of Jammu University at Poonch was established in February, 2008 and is operating from Government Degree College.

He said an amount of Rs 100 lakh was released as Grant-in-Aid for the development of the said campus during last year. He said during the current financial year an amount of Rs 40 lakh has been approved as Grant-in-Aid for infrastructural development of the campus. He assured work on construction work of the campus shall be expedited.

Measures initiated to get Jammu Dental College recognized: – The Government has appointed recently full time Principal for Indira Gandhi Government Dental College of Jammu and four dental chairs put in place.

This was stated by the Minister for Health,  Sham Lal in reply to a question of  Ajay Sadhotra in Legislative Council today. He said that the posts of other faculty members had been advertised but no eligible candidate was available, adding that the department will again advertise these posts for engaging them on academic arrangement basis.

As soon as all these deficiencies are removed, the matter would be taken up with the Dental Council of India for getting it recognized,  Sham added.

The total number of students studding in different classes, at present in the college is 216.

He said Indira Gandhi Government Dental College is a Government institution and the deficiencies pointed out by the Dental Council of India are being fulfilled for getting the College finally recognized.

Land compensation from Qazigund to Khannabal being paid – The Government has already started payment of compensation for the land acquired for widening both the sides of the national highway from Qazigun to Khannabal. The tentative awards have been issued in respect of 36 villages and 80 percent payment made for eleven villages and full payment for four villages.

This was stated by Minister for Rural Development Department,  Ali Mohammad Sagar in reply to a question by  Mohammad Amin Bhat in Legislative Council today.

He said the compensation is as per the prevailing market rates in the area.

Mendhar Degree College building constructed – The building of Degree College, Mendhar has been completed. The internal and finishing works are in progress and likely to be completed in the next three months.

This was stated by the Minister for Higher Education,  Abdul Gani Malik in reply to a question of  Mohammad Rashid Qureshi in Legislative Council today.

He said the college has 14 sanctioned posts of lecturers in different subjects out of which 12 posts have been filled on regular basis and two posts on academic arrangement.

He said there are Government intends to strengthen all the colleges including Degree College Mendhar in every respect subject to the availability of funds. He said about 589 students on rolls in the degree college Poonch adding that 13 subjects including English, Applied Math, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Computer, Education and Economics etc.

Rs 100 Cr grant to be distributed constituency-wise – The Central grant of Rs 100 crore provided recently to the State for infrastructural upgradation of schools and colleges would be equally distributed constituency-wise to improve all the educational institutions in the State.

This was stated by the Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed while replying supplementaries to a question of  Subash Chander Gupta in Legislative Council today. He said in Kathua, out of 1400 schools, 934 schools are without boundary walls, which would be constructed in a phased manner.
