KEMP Emerging Technology Group demos new SDN Adaptive QoE
14 October 2015: KEMP Technologies has been previewing its new SDN Adaptive QoE – Quality of Experience – technology at this week’s SDN & OpenFlow® World Congress event in Dusseldorf. With growing momentum behind SDN (Software Defined Networking), KEMP’s innovative SDN Adaptive QoE allows IT and network managers to provide guaranteed service level agreements (SLAs) and deliver reliable service quality for end users.
Enhanced application performance and QoE are strategic drivers for adoption of SDN and network virtualization, aligned to OPEX and CAPEX returns. Integration with the SDN fabric allows application traffic of high importance to be prioritized and optimized end-to-end through the network, so that sensitive services including video, voice and conferencing, will not experience disruptive latency and breakup problems.
Unlike traditional static and manually configured approaches to QoS (Quality of Service), KEMP has developed a dynamic solution to the problem, which directly influences QoS policies by providing instructions within the network in real time based on changing conditions and application needs. SDN Adaptive leverages its knowledge of the SDN fabric to optimize flows, enforce QoS policy for published services and guarantees smooth two-way throughput, delivering an overall superior QoE compared to what can be achieved with traditional architectures.
“Having a programmable network without enabling applications to influence what happens really defeats the purpose of SDN,” says Jason Dover, Director of Product Line Management at KEMP Technologies. “The primary purpose of the network is to support the applications that are running on it and it is SLAs, availability and user experience that IT departments are often measured against by the lines of business that they service. This step forward in SDN innovation reflects our commitment to helping organizations optimize their infrastructure investments and meet these requirements.”
KEMP takes advantage of its application-centric services that already sit in the data path and communicate directly with the hosted workloads, clients and controllers for load balancing and traffic optimization. Being in the middle of the flow path and having the intelligence to understand what the client is requesting and what the hosted application is providing, along with the ability to leverage SDN telemetry, puts KEMP in the ideal position to deliver unparalleled application service experience.
