The kidney of a five-month-old baby, Aditya Sau was allegedly removed in a city hospital during an operation. An FIR in this regard has been lodged at the Shakespeare Sarani police station on Friday evening. A senior IPS officer, on condition of anonymity, however, confirmed about the FIR and said, "We were shocked to hear of the incident. The matter was immediately informed to the city police commissioner, who in turn, has asked the concerned police station to investigate into the matter."
Sources said that the baby was suffering from serious ailment since his birth. Two months back, he was taken to Park Nursing Home by his parent for treatment. After through medical check-up, the doctor advised the Sau family that their son needed to undergo an operation. Aditya underwent operation at the nursing home but his condition did not improve. Later, he was suspected to have developed cancer.
Hearing this, the Sau family took their son to a hospital in Mumbai for further treatment. Sources said, during medical check-up at the Mumbai hospital, Aditya’s parent were told by the doctors that one of the kidney of Aditya was missing.
Shocked Sau family returned to Kolkata on Wednesday and went to the city nursing home who refuted the allegation. The Sau family then approached the Shakespeare Sarani police officials and lodged the complaint.
