Kissan Credit Cards being provide to every farmer of J&K: Mir

Wanmpora/Srinagar,July 31(Scoop News) -In order to make available financial support to the farming community, Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir Tuesday said that every farmer of the state is being provided Kissan Credit Cards(KCC) to enhance the agriculture activities.

The Minister said this while distributing Kissan Credit cards at a function organized by department of Agriculture with collaboration of J&K bank here this afternoon. In today’s function 1000 KCC were distributed among the farmers of different village of Pulwama.

Member parliament, Mr Gh Nabi Ratnipore MLA Pulwama Mr Mohammad Khalil Band, Director agriculture, Kashmir, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Lead bank officer of J&K bank also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of the KCC scheme for the benefit of farmers.

Appreciating the generosity of the J&K bank for issuing KCC’s to the farmers, The Minister said that the scheme would benefit the farmers in a long way in boosting agriculture activities by way to meet timely the short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and loans for the produce of marketing. He said that the farming community at the peak of agriculture season remains always in the dire need of financing and the availability of KCC would fulfils their aspirations at that time.

Asking the farmers for judicious use of KCC’s, Minister said that the scheme would become successful only when the farmers would utilize the money judiciously and return the amount to the bank in due course of time.

Mr Mir stressed upon the farmers to introduce farm mechanization for high return of yields. He said that we have to synchronize ourselves with latest Agri – Horti techniques utilized across the globe for making the agriculture as profitable activity. He said in this direction the department has conducted farm mechanization Mela’s across the state to motivate the farmers for its introduction adding that government is also providing subsidies on various schemes.

The Minister said that government is contemplating to make available farm mechanization to the farmers at rent basis so that the marginal farmers could take the benefit of this schemes. He said that the motive behind the introduction of farm mechanization is to lower the labour cost of agriculture production.

Referring about the irrigation facilities, The Minister said that government has made a comprehensive programme to tap the ground water resources for irrigation facilities to the Karewas of J&K. He said batteries of tube wells are being dug across the state to ensure adequate irrigation facilities to the un-irrigated cultivable areas of the state. He also announced that bore well be provided for the farmers of the area.
