Jammu, January 05 (Scoop News) – A deputation of the Welfare Committee, Durga Nagar, Jammu, called on N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan, here today and presented to him a Memorandum of their demands.
The demands presented by the 7-member deputation led by R. L. Raina, President of the Committee included, interalia, financial assistance for the completion of an under-construction Community Hall, setting up of a Dispensary, provision of land for construction of building for the Higher Secondary School in the Durga Nagar locality and representation of Kashmiri Pandits in the State Cabinet.
Other demands highlighted by the deputationists included construction of a park in the locality, accommodation facilities for the non-Camp migrants who have meager incomes, and enhancement of cash relief provided to the migrants. They thanked the Governor for providing support for construction of a Community Hall in Durga Nagar locality and for taking interest in their welfare.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the deputationists and announced a support of Rs. 1.50 lakh for completion of the under-construction building of the Community Hall at Durga Nagar. He agreed to take up their other demands with the State Government.
