Jammu, December 27 (Scoop News) – Maintaining that Kashmiri Pandits are inseparable part of Kashmiri culture and ethos, the Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Panchayti Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that the government is doing its bit for their safe return.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized by Pandit Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust here today. It was attended by a large number of writers, intellectuals and people from different walks of life.
While recalling the contribution of Kashmiri Pandits in different fields of life, Sagar said that they have been contributing their bit even during worst times. He said that they form an important part of the Kashmiri social fabric and the time is not far away when they would return to their roots and contribute their bit in building the society.
The Minister said that the government is abreast with the problems confronting the community and several measures have been taken to redress the same at an earliest. He said that the Kashmiri people have always believed and practiced the concept of co-existence and mutual brotherhood which is prevalent even today.
Recalling the historical role played by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the Minister said that he stood for the principals of secularism and mutual co-existence throughout his life especially during the early years of the 20th century when the state witnessed the tribal incursions.
The Minister appealed the community to remain connected to their roots, so that we can collectively defeat the forces of separation, destruction and contribute collectively for nation building.
Sagar also distributed Samaan Patra to the next of kin killed in the militancy related violence.
