Country music singer Kris Kristofferson who is 77 years old has indicated he is suffering from memory loss. He is a Rhodes Scholar and also has an English literature degree from Oxford and known to have had an outstanding memory during his 40 year singing career; but Kristofferson, a Grammy Award-winning singer and a Country Music Hall of Fame member, has shared the news he is now losing his ability to remember things but that he “still” remembers his song lyrics.
Kristofferson is blaming the multiple sports he played in college and for being a Golden Gloves boxer for his memory problems because of football and boxing games that left him having concussions. He’s stated that his memory began leaving him about two years ago but it’s great that he can “still” remember the songs he performs on stage.
Kristofferson’s memory loss is not slowing him down though because he recently performed at the Hollywood Walk of Fame star dedication for the late singer Janis Joplin.
He has a crisp unusual voice that is catchy and gets the attention of his audience. I’ve always loved his earthy down to earth voice and he never failed to have that innocent young boyish look on his face.
Kristofferson reminisces about his life and has said, “I cannot think of anything that I could have done that I haven’t already done; maybe if I were to write and direct a film, but I don’t think I’ll ever do that now.”
He did win a Golden Globe award for his role in the 1976 hit, “A Star is Born,” and other films included, “A Joyful Noise,” “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore,” and the “Blade” trilogy; and he has his latest film opening on Friday, “The Motel Life,” with Emile Hirsch and Dakota Fanning.
Kristofferson has stated, “I’m a very lucky man.” He has a wife of 33 years and eight children, and stating, “I’m blessed and am at a good point in my life.”
