Kumble, Kirsten backs up Dravid

“The WALL”, This is how Dravid is known as and but this time someone needs to hold the WALL from crashing and Indian Test Captain Anil Kumble and Coach Gary Kirsten are firmly backing doing it.

Like Sourav Ganguly, Dravid was also in a tough patch as he didn’t scored hardly any runs in recently ended Sri Lankan test series. But he came to be made his intentions clear when he made 49 and a more convincing 69 in the first and second innings of the Clash between the Delhi team during the Irani Cup match at Vadodara.

He may not have looked fully convincing and promising, but the Coach believes Dravid has achieved what was expected out of him ahead of the Test series against Aussies.

"I think it turned out to be a good outing for him," Kirsten said, "He achieved what he had come for”. And continued further,

"He is a key player for us and has been successful for years. I do not look at a particular game, but performance over six-seven months. If someone has been in form for that period, it does not matter if he does well or not in a game.”

"He knows now we face Australia, the world number one team and it should give boost his confidence," Kirsten said.

Anil Kumble was happy with his Karnataka Team mates display with the bat and said Dravid again showed how to play in adverse conditions where batsmen have a little support.

"He is a class act. In this kind of situation, you have to bat long and grind the bowlers. He knows that and he did a great job. It obviously feels good to have some runs behind him before the series against Australia," Kumble said.
