Jammu, March 31 (Scoop News)- During the Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly, several Members expressed concern over the loss of life, damage to public assets and standing crops across the State due to incessant rains, snowfall and hailstorm and sought immediate intervention of the government in providing necessary relief to the people.
The Members demanded immediate relief, supply of ration, fuel, tents, blankets, medicare facilities for the affected people. They also sought immediate measures for restoration of electricity, road communication in their respective constituencies. They suggested for conducting immediate assessment of loss of property and crops to ensure adequate compensation to the people. They also called upon the Government to devise a well-knit strategy to deal with such type of natural calamities in future.
Those who specifically highlighted the issues related to the flood situation, relief and rehabilitation included, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Rajiv Sharma, Asgar Karbalai, Mian Altaf Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Neelam Langeh, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, Aga Ruhulla Mehdi, Mir Zahoor Ahmed, Ch. Mohammad Akram, Dina Nath, Ms. Anjum Fazli, Advocate Bashir Ahmed Dar, Ravinder Raina, G.M. Saroori, Mohammad Yusuf Bhat, Daleep Singh Parihar, Abdul Majid Larnoo, Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi, Dr. Krishan Lal Bhagat, A.R. Rather, Kamal Verma, Syed Farooq Ahmed Andrabi, Ms. Shamim Firdous, M.Y. Tarigami, M. A. Shah, Vikar Rasool Wani, Altaf Ahmed Wani, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Shakti Parihar, Raja Manzoor Ahmed, R.S. Er. Abdul Rashid drew attention of the Government towards ensuring the punctuality of teachers in schools.
Davinder Singh Rana demanded suspension of operation of Toll Plaza on National Highway at Ban Nagrota till the completion of road widening work on the entire National Highway.
Yawar Ahmad Mir demanded speedy completion of Water Supply Schemes in Rafiabad constituency.
Ajay Nanda sought improvement in facilities in the colony of Talwara migrants in Reasi and relief at par with Kashmir migrants.
Sat Sharma drew the attention of the House towards the continuous Dharna protest by aspirant Jail Wardens and sought Government’s intervention to resolve the issue.
Rajiv Jasrotia demanded intervention of Government in conserving plants/trees of medicinal value.
Javed Rana called for lifting inter-district ban on transfers of SC/ST employees and protection of their service interests.
Ch. Qamar Hussain sought protection of rights of Tribals in Poonch and Rajouri.
Dr. Devinder Manial sought allotment of land for border people of Samba at safer places in view of frequent cross border firing and also free ration for those shifted in camps.
Nazir Ahmed Gurezi sought speedy compensation for those whose land has been acquired for the construction of Kishan Ganga Power Project. He also called upon the Government to use its good offices to ensure that the local people should be given priority for jobs on the project.
