In spite of the fact that the world has changed by leaps and bounds, it’s hard to believe that significant development did not contribute much to the improvement of people’s way of life in third world countries. The world has already achieved modernization but somewhere along the road of progress, is the overwhelming truth of inefficient support programs in health and sanitation services to certain areas in poor countries.
In fact, certain communities in the Philippines still practice the open ground no toilet defecation habit. In some parts of the Cordillera region, north of Manila, people tend to feed their feces to their raised animals particularly pigs or hogs. Others just let their feces consumed by the elements on the ground.
This situation can be seen in poor communities around the country, from urban squatters to rural areas and remote places. Although, the habit in urban areas is much different, the lack of sanitation facilities just the same made these people to mess up with their excrements. But no matter how they practice their habits, these poor people without toilets are victims of neglect and inefficient social service by the government.
