Ladakh Marathon on Sept 8 in Leh

Leh, September 04 (Scoop News)- Considering larger participation of National as well as International runners in the 2nd Ladakh Marathon on 8th September in Leh, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Simrandeep Singh took a preparatory meeting here today with main focus on traffic regulation and medical facility.
The Organizer of Ladakh Marathon, Chewang Motup Goba told in the meeting that four different categories of Marathon that include 10 Kilometers, 21 kilometers (half marathon), 42 kilometers (full marathon) and Khardong-la Challenge would be conducted this time involving various routes of Leh town, Spituk-Farka, Palam-Chushot road, Shashi bridge, Shey, Mahabhodi, Saboo road and back to Leh Skyatsags.
DC said that it is a huge privilege to host such a mega event in Leh with greater participations and to make it a grand success, there should be no lapses in all respect of arrangements particularly strict traffic restriction on the engaged routes and deployment of fully equipped medical teams at key points on 8th September. Mr. Simrandeep asked the Police Department to deploy added policemen along all the routes to restrict vehicular movement in order to ensure smooth flow of marathon race. He also directed the Health Deptt to keep their ambulances with Doctors following the runners to meet the exigencies. DC also directed the Municipal Committee to keep the marathon routes neat and clean on 8th Sept. The PHE, Youth Services and Sports and the Information Deptt were also instructed to extend their cooperation with the organizing agency in making the event a thriving.
In the meantime, the Administration Leh has appealed all concerned to kindly desist from driving their vehicles on these routes on 8th Sept (Sunday) from 6AM in the morning to 1PM in the afternoon.
The Dy. Superintendent of Police, Abdul Khaliq, Dr. Norphel from Health Deptt, Exen. PHE, Tashi Tondup, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Abdul Rashid and officials from Municipal Committee attended the meeting.
