Leh,November 04(Scoop News)- Thousands of Ladakhi people irrespective of religion, caste and creed gathered at Leh historic Pologround to pay rich tribute to the Late Padma Bhushan, the 19th Bakula Rinpochey -the modern architect of Ladakh on his 10th death anniversary. With the initiative of LAHDC, Leh targeting the young students and coming generation who are unaware of the unparalleled contributions of Late KG Bakula Rinpochey in developing the modern Ladakh decided to observe the death anniversary of Rinpoche (4th Nov.) in a grand manner which would be an annual feature.
The Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies Nawang Rigzin Jora who was the chief guest on the occasion termed KG Bakula as an apostle of progress, peace and communal harmony. As a result of his visionary mission with main focus on promotion of education in Ladakh region, Jora said that the achievements that we see today were the dream of Late Bakula. The Minister further said that Bakula has felt a strong legacy of clean politics in Ladakh saying that the imprints and values of this inheritance is seen among the today’s leaders irrespective of political affiliations and considerations. Jora credited the initiative of LAHDC, Leh led by CEC Rigzin Spalbar for conceptualizing the event in such a huge manner which is in the real sense a true tribute to our beloved leader. In order to realize KG Bakula’s dream of a stable and self sustained Ladakh, Jora urged for carrying out the Bakula Education Campaign in a more organized way.
Besides many foreign dignitaries, Tenzin Nawang Jigmet Wangchuk who is the reincarnation of 19th Bakula Rinpoche, born on 23 January 2006 in Nubra, Ladakh was present on the occasion.
It is to mention that the 19th Bakula Lobzang Thustan Chognor was born in the royal family of Ladakh on the auspicious Vaisakh Purnima day ( 19th May 1917). When barely five years old, the young prince was recognized as the 19th reincarnation of the Arhat Bakula by the 13th Dalai Lama Nawang Lobsang Thupten Gyatso from whom he received his name Lobzang Thupten Chognor. At a young age he travelled to Lhasa and studied for over 14 years at the renowned Drepung Loseling Monastery. He obtained the degree of ‘Geshe Lharampa’ with distinction, the highest degree in Buddhist philosophy and metaphysics. In 1940 after successful completing his studies in Tibet he returned to his native Ladakh.
The CEC Leh Rigzin Spalbar in his welcome address said that main objective of observing the day was to highlight late Bakula’s invaluable contributions in pulling Ladakhis out of the poverty and miseries and lead the region on the path of progress and happiness. Other aim of this event is to infuse the dynamism and energy of Late Bakula among today’s generation and motivate them to follow the path of Bakula and become contributors in upliftment of Ladakh, quipped Spalbar.
The CEC, Kargil, Asgar Ali Karbalae in his address acclaimed late Bakula as a true advocate of communal amity and contributed a lot in strengthening the Buddhist-Muslim bonds in Ladakh alongwith development in the region. He strongly urged to maintain the spirit of communal harmony for larger interest of whole Ladakh.
On the occasion, the massages of His Holiness Dalai Lama, Skyka Rinpochey, Chairperson UPA Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister J&K Omar were read out. The presidents of Ladakh Buddhist Association, Ladakh Gonpa Association, Anjuman-Moin-ul-Islam and Anjuman Immamia, Leh also spoke on the occasion.
A scintillating programme of different govt and private schools including mask dance from Spituk monastery were presented on the occasion. Earlier, in the morning different schools of Leh with their attractive tableaus depicting lifelong contribution of Late Bakula in a procession from Lamdon school via Leh market culminated at Pologound Leh.
