LAHDC for overall development of border villages of Ladakh:CEC

Leh, December 02, (Scoop News) – The Chairman/ Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Rigzi Spalbar today said that LAHDC is giving special attention towards the overall development of border villages keeping in mind its backwardness and as such the LAHDC has provided Rs 1.20 crore for carrying out various developmental activities in this village during last 3 years.
Rigzi Spalbar was addressing the people while inaugurated a 30KV Diesel Generator Station at border village Phobrang today in presence of Executive Councillor Animal & Sheep Husbandry Gurmet Dorje and Councilor Chushul Namgail Phuntsog.
CEC congratulated for commissioning the D.G set at the villagers which was a long pending demand. The CEC informed that a solar power plant has also sanctioned for Phobrang village and work on this project would be started during next summer. He further informed that a 150 KV Mini Hydle project of Rs 9 crore is also coming up at Phobrang and work on this project would also be started very soon, thus the people of Fobrang and Yurgo would get sufficient power in coming days.
Spalbar urged upon the Sarpanches, Panches and the people of Phobrang to become fully aware and understand about the developmental activities being carried out in their village. CEC urged upon the farmers to take agriculture seriously which is the only tool to lead Ladakh on sustainable development and making efforts for promotion of land based economy is the top priority of present Council.
Referring to the demands projected by Sarpanch of the village that include opening of trekking route from Phobrang to Que valley via Marsila, the CEC informed that the matter has already been taken with the Govt,and he expressed hope that the route will be opened shortly. Regarding providing of mobile tower, the CEC said that the matter has already discussed with the Defence Authorities and has decided to provide 19 towers in Nyoma and Durbok block where the Army and Para military are camped. The CEC also directed the CMO for early posting of a Pharmacist at MAC Phobrang. He also directed the CMO, Leh for early posting of staff at MAC Phobrang. The CEC also directed the Naib Tehsildar Tangtse to early start the land settlement works after completing the land settlement works of Chusul village.
The CEC also enquired about the availability of Ration, drinking water, Medicare etc.
Later the CEC also inspected the solar power plant and DG set at Tangtse. The CEC was informed that due to poor backup of batteries, the electricity supply to the village through the Solar Power Plant is becoming a hurdle. As a corrective measures to solve the power issue, the CEC on spot directed the Xn PDD to operate the DG set and ensure electricity supply to the villagers till proper functional of existing solar power plan is made.
Executive Councillor Sheep and Animal Husbandry Gurmet Dorje also spoke on the occasion and said that the people of Changthang mostly depends on livestock and for the management of the live stocks especially in the harsh winter season, the LAHDC has been providing supplementary feed and fodder to the breeders of Changthang. In view of last year heavy snow fall a good quantity of feed and fodder has already been stocked in all vulnerable areas of Changthang. He also informed that a feed bank at Chartse-Phobrang at a cost of Rs 25 lacs has sanctioned and work on this store has already started and with the completion of this store sufficient quantity of feed and fodder would be stocked for the animals of Phobrang.
The Councillor Chushul Namgial Phuntsog also spoke on the occasion and expressed gratitude over the commissioning the DG set at Phobrang village. He informed that out of 12 village of his constituency, 11 villages covered under electricity facilities that include two villages through DG set and 9 villages covered through solar power plants.
The Sarpanch of the village projected some demands which includes opening of trekking route to Que valley via Chartse la, Upgradation of MAC Phobrang, completion of land settlement works, completion of water supply scheme of Yurgo Phobrang, Mobile tower etc.
Besides the villagers of Phobrang the Xn PDD Tsewang Paljor, I/C CMO, Leh Dr.Angchok, Naib Tehsildar, Tangtse Mohd Afzal were also present on the occasion.
