Leh,November 05, (Scoop News)- To pay tribute to the Late Padma Bhushan, the 19th Bakula Rinpochey -the modern architect of Ladakh on his 11th death anniversary, LAHDC, Leh organized a daylong conference on the topic “Bakula Rinpoche’s contribution to socioeconomic and political development of Ladakh” at Nagarjuna Auditorium, CIBS Choglamsar, Leh today. The conference was chaired by CEC, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar with the participation of renowned scholars, intellectuals and large number of students.
It is to mention that the 19th Bakula Lobzang Thustan Chognor was born in the royal family of Ladakh on the auspicious Vaisakh Purnima day ( 19th May 1917). When barely five years old, the young prince was recognized as the 19th reincarnation of the Arhat Bakula by the 13th Dalai Lama Nawang Lobsang Thupten Gyatso from whom he received his name Lobzang Thupten Chognor. At a young age he travelled to Lhasa and studied for over 14 years at the renowned Drepung Loseling Monastery. He obtained the degree of ‘Geshe Lharampa’ with distinction, the highest degree in Buddhist philosophy and metaphysics. In 1940 after successful completing his studies in Tibet he returned to his native Ladakh.
Addressing the conference, CEC Rigzin Spalbar said that the main purpose of organizing this conference is to make young students and coming generation of Ladakh aware of the unparalleled contributions of Late KG Bakula Rinpochey in developing the modern Ladakh and to motivate them to follow the path of Bakula and become contributors in upliftment of Ladakh. “If we want to pay real tribute to our beloved leader, we must walk on his shown path and work for his vision and dream” . Added Spalbar.
To eradicate social evils from the society, for which Late Bakula Rinpochey was popularly known, CEC asked all participating schools to identify one social evil prevailing in the society and work for eradicating these social evils.
Earlier, Sonam Angchuk Secretary Bakula Foundation, Gen Thupstan Paldan, Prof. Jamyang Gyaltsan, Lobon Spituk Gonpa Urgain Tseirng speaking in tandem highlighted the matchless contribution of Late Bakula Rinpochey in development of Ladkah before independence and after independence.
In the morning a prayer ceremony was performed at Bakula Shardhanjali Park near Air Port Leh by all the religious heads in the presence of CEC Rigzin Spalbar, MP Ladakh Thupstan Tsewang, Ex. CEC Tsering Drojey, President District Congress Committee, Leh Tsering Samphel and many other distinguish guests including Lamas of Spituk Monastery and offered traditional Khataks at the statue of Late Bakula Rinpoche.
