LAHDC would not compromise on education

Leh, April 1   (Scoop News) -The Education is number one priority and LAHDC would not let the education suffer due to non performing teachers and mismanagement. This was stated by the Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar today while taking an important review meeting of education sector of Leh district where under the CEC took detail review of the results of 10th  and 12th class of the entire Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools of Leh district from the concerned Principals and Headmasters.

With added efforts from LAHDC since last two years, the results of class 10th and 12th of Leh district has comparatively improved and this positive change needs to be maintained by bringing more work culture and determination, the CEC said and adding that the Principals, Headmasters and teaching staff are creditable for this satisfying results. At the same time, CEC warned not to give any excuse or leniency to the non performing teachers who are giving poor results consecutively and ordered Chief Education Officer to reflect their failures and lapses in their service books or they should leave the job if they are not capable to bring good results. He reiterated that Council would not let the students academically suffer due to lack of management and non performing attitude of unscrupulous teachers and said that LAHDC would not hesitate to take drastic measures for complete reorganization of the education sector in Leh if things are not improved at a good pace.  To ensure better results and quality education, Mr. Spalbar strongly urged upon the heads of the institutions to keep close supervision on each subject teachers on their day to day performance along with taking feedbacks from the students about the inputs from teachers.

CEC said that LAHDC as a result of implementing upon its education reforming  policy, has achieved some concrete results that include strengthening of pre-primary classes clubbing the ICD centers with the schools, holding of comprehensive training to the teachers through DIET, distribution of zones among the ZEOs for monitoring, recognition of performing teachers, making of Education department proactive, detachment of teachers, implementing on transparent teacher’s transfer policy etc.

As a gesture of encouragement, CEC offered traditional Khataks to the head of the institutions who brought out above 50 percent results in 10th and 12th class results.

During the meeting, Executive Councilor Higher Education, Ghulam Abas Abidi lauded the outstanding contribution of DIET in polishing the teachers in teaching skill that has tremendously helped in improving the education system during the recent past.

The E C Health Dr. Sonam Wangchok, EC Agriculture, EC Tourism Gyurmet Dorjey, the Councilors of LAHDC have also shared their valuable views and suggestions for further improvement of education system in Leh.

On this occasion, the Principal DIET, Konchok Angmo gave a detailed summery about their winter phase wise trainings programs given to the teachers of Leh district  in various categories saying that duration of some specific training needs to be lengthen to make them fully capable.

 The other agendas on which thorough discussions with constructive criticism was held include functioning of Pre-Primary Schooling, functioning and performance of ICD Centre’s and workers, feedback and input of winter training for teachers by DIET, preparation of teaching in new academic session in general and 10th and 12th class in particular, action taken report of review meeting of 2012,  functioning of schools in the wake of general transfer teachers and masters and preparation for KG Bakula Rinpochey weeklong educational campaign 2013.

The Additional DC, Leh Tsering Morup and  heads of various religious organizations also attended the meeting and appreciated the LAHDC’s efforts towards improvement of quality education in Govt. schools in Leh district.
