The Pentagon announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Lance Cpl. Caleb L. Erickson, 20, of Waseca, Minn., was murdered in a cowardly suicide ambush style attack on Feb. 28, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Lance Cpl. Erickson was assigned to 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

According to one local news report:
“Family told KARE 11 that Lance Cpl. Caleb Erickson, 20, was the gunner in the last truck of a convoy that was attacked by a suicide bomber on Friday.
Erickson was airlifted to a medical facility, where he later died. Nobody else in the convoy was hurt, family said.
