Shahi Masjid worth million of rupees given on 400 rupees rend only.

CHITRAL:  Shahi Masjid land worth millions of rupees was given on 200 rupees rent only. According to detail former president of Pakistan Geneal Ziaul Haq purchased a piece of land for Shahi Masjid  where as a plan Masjic committee will construct shops and its rent will be collected which will be spent on Masjid repair, maintenance and renovation. Hence the land was given to Abdul Karim on lease by Sahibuz Zaman former Khateeb of Shahi Masjid ( father of present Khateeb Khaleequz Zaman). Although as a rule he was not authorized because on behalf of Auqaf Department only Deputy Commissioner was authorized to deal of lease of this land. Sahib Zaman deal with Abdul Karim in writing that this rent would not be increased  and its rent will be start when he complete shops on this land. He also wrote agreement that this land will be remained  in posses of Haji Abdul Karim  for ever and nobody will be claim of it to take back it from him which was totally illegal and based in injustice but no body take notice at that time. Haji Abdul Karim told this scribe that land were near to my property and I was claimer of it and that is why I got it on lease but Sahib Zaman has given me written that this land will be in my posses till Qiamat. (For ever).

Some people approached the court at that time  challenging such less rent for a large piece of land (a commercial plaza) where there more than one dozen shops have been constructed. Its rent was increased 800  but Abdul Karim nick name Kiki Haji came on a appeal requesting for decreasing this rent. And it fixed 400 one again but no body raised the issue about the agreement that how a Khateeb can give Govt. property to a party for ever?. After that the case ws file and owner of the land not approached to High Court for writ petition.  when this scribe meet some of shopkeepers who get shops on rent in this plaza of Shahi Masjid they told that we pay 6000 to 8000 per shop for a month and there are more than one dozen shops who were given to outsiders splendor. Haji Abdul Karim collecting thousands of rupees per month from these shops but pay only 400 to Shahi Masjid. While the present Khateeb collecting charity for Masjid maintenance and fire wood for heating water whose father given this land worth of million of rupees only on 200 rupees per month on  lease which was increased to 400 later on. Recently Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti donated

 37.187 million rupees for its renovation but contractor damaged a historical Minaret dome was damaged due to blasting . When a local lawyer Altaf Gohar was contacted in this connection regarding agreement of land forever he said that it is totally illegal and should be challenged in Peshawar High Court to cancel this biased  agreement because the person have collected rent on these shops which is increasing of its actual price purchased at that time.

There is also a government Darul Ulom (religious school) inside of Shahi Masjid but district Khateeb Fazal Maula who had been appointed by provincial government is not allowing there. 

Social and political circle of Chitral and political have demanded from provincial government to conduct an inquiry in this regard and to cancel this illegal lease agreement to return the land to Masjid committee and its rent will be utilized on its maintenance.
