Students of India’s premier science and technology institutes have been successful in developing laptop that will only cost between Rs 500-1000. The laptop was showcased in Tirupati town on Tuesday .
It was developed jointly by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Chennai, and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, for the human resource development (HRD) ministry. The whole objective of such develoment is to bridging the digital divide and making access to computer literacy affordable to the masses of all categories.
About the possibility of finding this computer in market for purchasing, HRD Minister Arjun Singh and experts in the Venkateshwara University campus, Education Joint Secretary S.K. Sinha said the low-power consuming gadget may be launched in the next six months.
