Me, Odhora, don’t know why he wanted to meet me in spite of saying the last meeting. May be he would be off from my marriage. I know he won’t be there. And why he? He still loves me. I asked him many times to forget me but he said, “Loved me, so loved you & I’ll anyway.” Never he thought of my position even for a single moment! I don’t love him anymore. And may be I didn’t.
Tomorrow is my wedding. Now how I can consider that I love him?! Or I loved him once?! Now I am not for him. Then why he wanna meet me? Why doesn’t he forget me? And why doesn’t he let me go on my way?
Riksha-wala: Sister. Here we go 27 no. Where you will get down?
Me: Just over there to Shwarma’s gate. Here’s your fair!
4 O’clock. For the first time I reached on time and he missed the train. May be he went for a farewell gift. This is his 2nd ‘Last’ meeting in three months and gave me many gifts. Whereas it’s hard to forget, he is overloading me with his gift! But thanks God, most of the times he brought chocolates and I be safe by eating those. Anyway, but gift can’t be the reason for his being late.
It is 4pm now. He is still not here. The boy who’d come 30 minutes before even if knowing that I’d be 30 minutes late. Today he’s getting late? Oh! How many times I told him not to come walking. “Aren’t there any rickshaw near your varsity?” But he wanna stay fit only for me. But he never gets late even he comes on foot. May be he is walking slowly. Oh shit! These days he so often gets out of mind. I hope he doesn’t meet any accident. May be I should ring. Should I? If I? What then? Ok forget it. I guess he’d be here in any minute.
It’s getting 4:25. I can’t wait anymore. And why would I? What the need? Did I ask him to come? Neither had I told him to accept my love nor to cry. I didn’t ask his last meeting. Even I didn’t tell him to come on foot and bring gifts for me either. All these he did on his own accord.
Oh no! 4.30 Now! Time has crossed the limit. I should start walking. If he comes he will see me. Is someone calling me? But it doesn’t sound him. It sounds like a cry and he never do so. Even on the last meeting he was laughing at himself. Sometimes he seems to be utter mad and me as well. Oh God! I’ve come a long way! I got to walk back home.
Me: Oy Rickshaw! Will you go? Just over there.
Rickshawala: I will. But do you see the jam.Apa? Someone has died.
Me: How?
Rickshwala: A boy was coming to meet his girlfriend. The bus with full speed hit him from the side. He was shouting “Odhora” “Odhora” before dying. Death made him stop.
