Lawari Tunnel opened for heavy traffic.

The only land route connecting Chitral to other sorts of the country Lawari top has been blocked for all type of vehicular traffic in last December but a long tunnel of 8.5 kilometers have been excavated inside the Lawari mountain calling Lawari tunnel. Although excavation work have been completed but the tunnel is opening only for two hours a day to travel from Chitral to down district. Hence due to heavy snowfall both sides of the portal from  Dir and Chitral side had blocked as a result the tunnel remained blocked for all type of vehicular traffic for a week. Hence the National Highway Authority (NHA) on the direction of Ministry of communication removed the snow from both sides of the tunnel and open it for light traffic on first day and now after more working the tunnel was opened for heavy traffic. Hence people of the area appeal to high ups of NHA to open the tunnel around the clock because due to bad and disturb weather as well as lack of interest of operational staff PIA flights also canceling and two flights were operated after 17 days continue cancellation.
