Jammu, December 13 (Scoop News) – Chairman NPP, Prof. Bhim Singh who is also a member of the J&K High Court Bar has urged N.N. Vohra, the Governor of J&K in a letter addressed to him seeking his urgent intervention to resolve the situation created by mindless decision of the J&K government to shift registration of documents from the judiciary to the executive with a criminal intension to undermine the credibility of the judiciary and encourage corrupt practices in the already corruption ridden Revenue Department in the state.
Prof. Bhim Singh expressed surprise that the echelons of power in J&K have not cared a bit of the fact that thousands of lawyers have been on strike for the past 20 days, yet the government has not realized the gravity of the situation. The lawyers’ fraternity is the backbone of democracy and the only security of the fundamental and civil rights of the citizens in democracy, ignoring their voice, logic, reasoning and suggestions amounts to an assault on the civil society.
The NPP Chief who is also a member of National Integration Council said that failure on the part of the government to resolve the legitimate issue which has very rightly and wisely projected by the Bar Associations in J&K deserves to be considered without any delay.
He said that the present situation is near to the breakdown of the constitutional machinery in the state and the situation demands intervention of the Governor of J&K lest it slips out of the corridors of the Bar Association.
On the one hand the NC-Congress combine has been asking for greater autonomy and on the other hand the Chief Minister is pleading to introduce the corruption-ridden systems prevalent in the rest of the country against the will and wishes of the people.
The Panthers Party Chief appealed the Panthers Party units including trade unions, students unions, young panthers, farmers’ unions and its district units to support the Bar Associations with all their strength from the farms to the streets to oppose, expose and finally depose the corrupt and authoritarian government. He urged the Governor of J&K to invoke Section 92 of the J&K Constitution without any delay.
