Kashmir has been known as “Heaven on Earth” although it was ruled by a series of rulers who were not actual inhabitants of the land like Pathans, Mughals, Sikhs, Dogras and others. Those days large people from all over the world used to visit this part of earth to enjoy the beauty, which was symbol of the beauty of nature. But who destroyed it, who is responsible? The entire blame for it must be placed on the shoulders of those inept Kashmiri leaders, who with their emotional driver rhetoric completely misled the Kashmiri masses and pushed them to the destructive path of militancy. Had they led them instead along the path of educational and economic advancement, Kashmir might to-day have been a model of progress and prosperity. But unfortunately, these incompetent leaders with their unrealistic dreams and empty slogans have caused such a terrible damage to the Kashmiri which cannot be achieved back even after hundred years to come. Wherever the Kashmiri Leaders launched any movement or revolted against anyone in Kashmir including Dogra Rule and others, it was always, in fact, for their personal and political interest. Even after 1947 Kashmiri people came under the influence of two big movements. One was named in the name of secularism and another in the name of Islam, but both these movements were also the product of political ambitions of certain leaders of Kashmir. So called secular leaders launched their movements in the name of “independent Kashmir”, gained much materially and in terms of fame but for the people of Kashmir it amounted to running a target without a destination. These were movements which had a beginning but no end. Another class of Kashmiri leaders consists of those who launched their movement in the name of “Islamic Kashmir” and Nizame-Mustafa. They used the name of Islam because they had nothing to offer, but emotionalism and wishful thinking. They played politics to exploit emotions for their selfish gains but nothing positive has come out to achieve their objective. It is because of the futility of these misleading movements, Kashmiri’s and their youths remain away from development and prosperity, resulted that they have taken course of violence since 1989. Violent and destructive movements of Kashmiri leaders were responsible for the depression of those Kashmiri youth who ran after these unwise leaders for nothing, and later on indulged in armed violence on the abetment and exploitation of neighboring country, Pakistan. Actually at present state of J&K has leadership crisis for which all sections of the people of the state have to collectively make a search of such a leader who have capacity and capability of representing the aspirations and problems of all the sections of the people of the J&K State. Present so called leaders of the state are representing only to their respective organizational objectives and slogans, which resulted they have lost the faith of people of the state in General. The right way for the Kashmiri’s would be to make re-assessment of their past, learn from their mistakes, chart a new course for themselves in order to build their future. Also avail the opportunity of the time to go ahead with education, economic development and spreading the message of peace and harmony to the people. They must completely abandon the politics of destruction and path of armed violence and set the feet of their whole generation on the path of education and building high class educational and technical institutions. As for economic field is concerned, there are extra ordinary opportunities for business and industry in the state of J&K. Therefore, they must productively use the vast economic and other resources kept available by the government for their development. The third important field is that of the communication of the message of peace and harmony among the people. If peace prevails in Kashmir, the tourism Industry will flouri This great opportunity of spreading message of peace to the world would prove helpful for them to achieve their goal of prosperity, progress and development of the state.
