It’s an amazing thing to be an entrepreneur. This is a very exciting lifestyle and people who are passionate about it won’t even find the downsides difficult. Although this is a very exciting ride for people who are into business, the majority downsides affect the person’s health.
One of the first things that everyone will tell you is that entrepreneurs are very busy. Of course, if you want to succeed you will have to work hard and put in a lot of effort into your business. A regular day might include multiple meetings, various paperwork, talking to employees, partners and in all of this commotion you might not even have time to grab a decent meal.
You will sleep much less than others and have almost no time to exercise or just relax. Still, your health is very important, not just for obvious reasons, but your performance as an entrepreneur can significantly improve if you take care of your health. Luckily, there are ways you can adopt a healthier lifestyle, while still working hard on your business.
How to fit in regular exercise every other day
Like I mentioned above, entrepreneurs can have a lot of busy and stressful days and physical activity can help you fall asleep easier, relax your mind and your body as well. Additionally, the nature of your job will require you to work in a seated position during most of your day, or simply standing in one place for a long time.
Sadly, our bodies are not meant to be stationary for such long periods. If this has been your daily routine for some time, you will soon start feeling pain in your back, neck and soreness in your eyes. On top of that, you might also start gaining serious weight. One of the best solutions to consider is running every day after work, preferably on your way home.
Additionally, you should do some bodyweight exercises like pushups, squats and pullups about three times a week, preferably early in the morning. Not only is this a good time to do exercises as you can immediately take a shower and head to work, but you will also get the blood flowing and feel awake almost immediately.
Get up from your desk
As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to get caught up in all of the work you have to do, and simply forget about doing anything else, while being stuck at your desk most of the day. A lot of people work, eat, and take a break while sitting at their desk. You easily get used to this kind of lifestyle, which is quite unhealthy.
If you don’t adopt some healthy habits, you will soon start to eat a lot of unhealthy fast food that can harm you in many ways, from gaining weight to causing heart diseases, high blood pressure etc. The recipe for this is quite simple, get up from your desk every chance you get.
Go to the park for a walk when you’re on your break, take 5 minutes to get up and just walk around a bit and do some stretches. Prepare food at home and look to use estrogen reducing ingredients and mix them up with a lot of vitamins from fruits and vegetables. This way you will get a little bit of a testosterone boost and improve your focus.
Reducing stress
A high amount of stress can lead to various problems including anxiety, exhaustion and even depression. Due to the level of work they do, a lot of entrepreneurs start smoking to reduce stress, but they don’t know that smoking ultimately only causes more of it, while at the same time leading to many respiratory problems and cancer.
Like I said before, exercising regularly can help you manage stress, but this is not enough. You should take a break from work from time to time and do something you enjoy. For example, hanging out with your friends, spending time with your family, going out on a picnic, dating or simply staying home doing nothing, if that’s your thing.
Taking some time off and doing what you enjoy will decompress your brain and when you return to work you will be ready to rise to all of your challenges.
In the end, a lot of entrepreneurs turn to various “helpful” products that actually do them a lot of damage. Coffee and energy drinks are the most common things people stuff themselves with. Although they can give you a short term energy boost, they can make you quite tired in the long term. Additionally, a lot of energy drinks have high amounts of sugar and calories, which are also harmful. So, try to adopt a few healthy habits, move a bit and try to find a way to relax every now and then.
