What is management? Getting things done to yield optimal results with minimum resources is the concept of management. Management techniques can be applied in a large refinery industry, to a small trading company, or in an Ayurveda clinic, or in a horticultural farm and even in the home.
Even though Indian women may not have graduated from any professional institutions they naturally apply these powerful techniques in their homes and get best results in managing their families’ resources with great efficiency.
The housewife is also very good at Human resource management. She takes complete care of her husband and children. She encourages and boosts their confidence and morale. (Often the wife would ask the husband to open the lid of a bottle, or some other simple task in a way that would make him feel he is stronger- if the husband were not at home, she probably would have opened it quicker herself.)
She often offers gifts when the children perform well in studies or in sports.
She nurses them when they are sick and gives complete emotional security to the members of her family.
She is an expert in production management too. She knows how much stock she must have for a month and plans purchases accordingly. She knows inventory control though she is not aware of ABC or VED analysis techniques.
She is also a good financial manager. She prepares her budget taking into account the income and the expenditures. She also saves some money for the future.
So dear friends, let us take an example and learn the management techniques from the housewife and use it in our places of business.
