Legislators recall socio- political contribution of late legislator

Jammu, February 28 (Scoop News) – The Legislative Assembly today paid rich tributes to former legislator and Congress leader Ghulam Hassan Arman.

            Moving obituary reference, Speaker  Mohammad Akbar Lone termed his demise as a great loss to the people of the State in general and those of Kishtwar in particular. He said born in 1937, Arman was elected MLA in 1983 on congress ticket and MLC in 1989.

            Deputy Chief Minister,  Tara Chand described late Arman a leader of masses for being closely associated at the grass-root level. He said throughout his life he struggled for the upliftment of people of his area. He said people of Kishtwar will always remember his contribution for the development of backward areas. He prayed for peace to the departed soul.

            Minister for Finance,  A.R. Rather described Arman as a symbol of secularism and a very good parliamentarian. He said the deceased forcefully raised the voice of his people at every platform. He said his simplicity was example for others, adding that Arman worked for the upliftment of downtrodden people till his last breath. His contribution for his area is unforgettable as he fought for securing district status for Kishtwar, he said.

Minister for Agriculture  Gh. Hassan Mir while paying tributes to late leader described Arman as a man of principles who fought for educational and political empowerment of the people of Kishtwar with conviction. He said Arman always worked for removing poverty, illiteracy and backwardness of Kishtwar and transformed development scenario of his area.    

 The leader of opposition Mrs. Mehabooba Mufti described Arman as a simple and sincere leader, who was popular for his honesty and integrity. She said Arman fought bravely for development rights of the people of Kishtwar.

            BJP legislature leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta recalled his contribution in politics. He said Arman provided transparent leadership to his people and highlighted their demands in different platforms. He said his way of life and approach to politics is worth emulation.

He said Arman was a champion of secularism and socialism, who worked throughout his life for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden people.

             Harsh Dev Singh said that Arman worked tirelessly for the resolution of problems confronted people of Kishtwar. He said deceased legislator was a simple and sincere man who guided the people of Kishtwar towards progress and prosperity.

 Tarigami while paying tributes to ex- legislator described him an embodiment of honesty, unity and brotherhood. He said Arman was a frontline leader in the struggle against decentralization of administration.

Describing his contribution torch bearer for legislators,  Tarigami said that Arman pleaded the cause of poor, destitute and downtrodden and worked hard to remove illiteracy in the area. He said the struggle of late legislator for decentralization and empowerment of poor has inspired   one and all.

Hakim Mohammad Yaseen described Arman as a man of integrity and strong convictions. He said the deceased worked for the betterment of his people and State in general.

Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan said Arman pioneered agitation for Degree College and separate Kishtwar district. He said Arman was simple and kind at heart but quite vocal to safeguard interests of Kishtwar people. He Said Arman honestly worked for the upliftment of the people of Kishtwar.

            Paying rich tributes to late Ghulam Hassan Arman,  Abdul Majid Wani said that Arman was a man of principles and a true example of secularism. He possessed pain for his people and always articulated voice for the people of his area. "We should adopt his principles", he said.

             G. M. Saroori described Arman as fearless and courageous leader who took part in various agitations for granting district status to Kishtwar. His aspirations were fulfilled when  Azad led Government granted Kishtwar district status, Saroori said and lauded his role as legislator in promoting the cause of the people of his area.

             Mohammad Sharief Niaz said that Arman was a very good human being who had pain for his people. He worked for the poor and downtrodden people throughout his life. His simplicity will inspire others in future also, he added.

             Sajjad Kitchloo while paying tributes to former MLA, Ghulam Hassan Arman said he hailed from a poor family, but due to his qualities and abilities he was elected as MLA by the people. He was so popular amongst the people because of his selfless service to poor and backward people. His contribution will go a long way in inspiring the others to fulfil his unfinished tasks, he maintained.

            A 2-minute silence was also observed in the House in memory of late legislator.
