Leh, February 4 (Scoop News) –The group of around 80 Sarpanches from Leh district who were on an exposure tour to different states of India, headed by EC Agriculture Sonam Dorjey today called upon the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi at New Delhi to took up a list of demands for the welfare of the people and development of Leh district. Sh. P Namgyal, former Union Minister was also accompanied the delegation.
The list of demand includes UT status for Ladakh with legislative power, special package for permanent restoration in all affected areas of Leh district, to include Bhoti language in 8th schedule of Indian constitution, to consider early sanctioning of multipurpose Khardongla tunnel, opening of all weather road to Ladakh through Parangla, to open Kailash Mansarovar Yatra road via Ladakh, 73rd amendment of Constitution of India to implement in J&K soon, to enhance the daily wages under MGNREGA from Rs.130 to Rs.350 considering the harsh condition of Ladakh, timely release of funds under MGNREGA in view of short working season in Ladakh region and to upgrade Khaltsi hospital to sub-district hospital.
Giving patient hearing, Sonia Gandhi gave full assurance to the delegation from Leh district to give due attention to their mentioned demands stating that Centre govt. will make all possible efforts to live by the expectations of the people of Ladakh.
