If you want to live longer, follow these four habits regularly : 1)Exercise Daily, 2)Drink in moderation, 3)Eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and 4)Quit smoking. These four habits could add fourteen years in your life.
Researchers in Cambridge University in Britain have carried out a study and foud that the four healthy habits can lengthen a person’s life by upto 14 years.
According to Prof. Kay-Tee Khaw, the small changes in diet and exercise are entirely feasible and achievable by most of the population.By analysing the 11 year study of the cases of some 20,000 men and women of over 45 years of age, it came to light that small changes in a person’s daily routine could have a big impact on well-being.
The study of the people from Norfolk were on their smoking, exercise, drinking habits, samples of blood tests for vitamin C and intake of fruits and vegetables.More than a decade later, when the researchers checked how many of the volunteers died and what had killed them, which helped them to find out that those people with healthier lifestyles can expect to live 14 years more than the less healthy peers.
The sutdy also revealed that the smoking had a bigger impact on health than diet, exercise or alcohal intake.
So the longest-lived did not smoke, had an active job or exercised for atleast half-an-hour a day, drank a glass or two of alcohal a day and ate atleast five portions of fruit and vegetables, the researchers found.
The results also showed that those who ticked all these boxes were four times less likely to have died than those who did not fulfill any of the criteria.
