Kansas State University football’s Leon Patton was dismissed from the team by coach Ron Prince following his arrest for felony abuse of a 4-month-old.
The details surrounding the child abuse charge are hazy, but police said that it is related to a July 15, 2008 event that occurred in the Manhattan, KS area.
The fact that Leon Patton was already on probation for stealing video games from a Wal-Mart and failing to appear in court might have expedited his dismissal from the Wildcats’ football team. He was expected to be the starting running back for the team this season.
Ron Prince announced Patton’s exclusion from the team via press release but did not comment further, waiting for a formal investigation into the crimes filed against him.
