CHITRAL: Leprosy patients Muhammad Murad of Drosh district Chitral appeal to philanthropists as well as concerned quarter for free treatment and financial support. Murad is the oldest disabled surviving patient. He was one of the 1st Batch of new cases detected in 1966. now his both hands totally dissolved with little signs of fingers and toes. Recently he was injured in Drosh while begging his left foot was influenced has developed festering wound and the injured bones have been extended.
Now he is recommended for amputation of the foot and reconstructive surgery at Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar, possible operation of cataract eyes, provision of artificial foot and provision of limb appliances for hands, transportation from Drosh to Peshawar in AC Ambulance free of cost. Provision of cash assistance for incidental charges at Peshawar and cost of living of an attendant. Regular monthly provision of financial assistance from district SWF department Zakat and Bautul mall etc. He appeal to President of Pakistan, Premier as well as philanthropists to help him in above mentioned recommendations.
He also appeal for subsistence allowance life long for cured disable leprosy patients from the national exchequers. A national survey also needed to identify such cases and moving of bills in the national and provincial assemblies to enact a law for this substance. Dr. Sardarul Mulk Director General Health ® offered his services to render volunteers service in drafting the law and debating the topic at any national or Provincial forum if needed. Some might consider this unneeded as the present day concept about long-term rehabilitation of such crippled patient is thought unnecessary state responsibilities.
