Lieberman Praises Obama’s Cabinet Picks as ‘Virtually Excellent’

It was early last week in which the verdict was in on Independent Democratic Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut. Before then, Lieberman’s fate was undecided. For many years, Lieberman has been the maverick of the Democratic Party. On many topics, Lieberman has sided with members of the GOP.

He had given his endorsement to then GOP Presidential nominee Senator John McCain of Arizona. For 2006, Lieberman was denied the Democratic nomination. Instead it would be given to Ned Lamont, Jr. Lieberman would have to run as an Independent Democrat.

It was revealed that Lieberman will remain on the chair of the Senate Homeland Security Committee. However, he will be ejected from the Environment and Public Works panel. The ejection comes as a penalty towards remarks made towards US Democratic President-Elect Barack Obama.

So far, it seems that Lieberman has praise for Obama. According to Lieberman, Obama has been “virtually perfect” in his actions and decisions after winning.

Everything that President-elect Obama has done since election night has been just about perfect, both in terms of a tone and also in terms of the strength of the names that have either been announced or are being discussed to fill his administration,” Lieberman had explained.

Overall, Lieberman has praised Obama’s cabinet picks.

However, it does not seem that Lieberman is not out of hot water yet with the Democrats. A meeting is scheduled for December 17 by the Connecticut Democratic Party. While Lieberman retains his position as the Homeland Security Committee chair, there is still the chance he could be censored by the Connecticut Democrats.

However, nothing is concrete yet. For further information on that regard, we will have to wait until December 17.

Until then, Lieberman’s not in the clear yet.
