Little White Lies Could Possibly Cause Huge Consequences

I know throughout my life I have been guilty of telling "little white lies" to prevent a major turmoil in the workplace or at home. I’ve been studing Bible verses that talks and instructs about people telling lies, and I must admit, I was only fooling myself as I convinced myself, "Hey, it’s only a little white lie." I would lie to keep a person or a family member out of trouble, and yes, I knew it was doing wrong.

In the Third Book of Moses which is called Leviticus it provides God’s guidebook for His newly redeemed people and telling them how to worship, serve, and to obey a holy God. It focuses on the worship and walk of the nation of God. In Leviticus 19: 11 Jesus is speaking to Moses about His guidelines for His people and He is talking with him about people who tell lies, and the Bible tells us, "You shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another."

This gave me reasons to realize people should never lie even if it is what a person believes is a "little white lie." Lying is not being truthful or telling a lie or lies and people should not do it. When people deceive their minds like I was doing, it is wrong and there is "no" justification for the lie.

A Christian person should not fill their lives with deceits because it fills their mind and soul with falsehoods that will lead to more lies and more mistakes in their life. It is important that Christians refrain from lying and to be honest and trustworthy with others.

I’ve listed below verses in the Bible pertaining to lying, it is "not" all of the verses but those that I chose to write this article about:

In Psalm 119: 163 the Bible tells us, "I hate and abhor lying: but your law do I love."

In Proverbs 12: 22 the Bible tells us, "Lying lips are abomination to the Lord: but they that deal truly are His delight."

In Proverbs 13: 5 the Bible tells us, "A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to same."

In Proverbs 14: 5 the Bible tells us, "A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies."

In Colossians 3: 9 the Bible tells us, "Lie not one to another, seeing that you have put off the old mand with his deeds."

Those "little white lies" I was telling was absolutely wrong and the above Bible verses allowed me to see that regardles of the circumstances, a person should not lie but to tell the truth in "all" things.

When a person is confronted and asked about something a person said they did but they didn’t, it is wise for the truth to be told. The truth will stand in all things and when people tell lies, in almost all cases of lying, the truth will eventually prevail. A person who tells the lie then is known as a liar throughout their workplace; and if a similar incident happened in the home place, they are considered a liar there too.

Christians and non-believers should always tell the truth because a lie is just what it is called a lie. There is not a person living on this earth today who hasn’t failed at lying at one time or another in their life. A simple white lie may end up being a huge lie in the eyes of the law and an innocent person might end up in prison because of the lie.

Christians need to express love and truth in their lives and they should not allow lying to become a part of their every day’s lives. People do fall short of God’s glory in their Christian walk but they’re aware they’ve sinned but that God’s word tells them they should go but not do it again.

Christians must lean on God’s word and prayer to grant them the courage and strength required to tell the truth at all times and to never lie regardless of the consequences it may cause.
