We are living in a modern world where life has become too mechanical. Children can not enjoy their childhood as we constantly engage them in too many activities, believing that we are shaping a good life for them. We have modern gadgets which have simplified our work to a great extent, yet, they have increased the distance among people.
We talk to our spouse in the next room on the mobile phone as we are unable to talk openly in person. Mode of communication has advanced to a great extent, yet we find it difficult to communicate with our dear and near ones.
We are living in a fast world. We chase after money to get status in life. At one stage we can’t stop the chasing.
Once there was a very famous writer who was engaged in writing a great book. He was too busy with his work that he never knew what was happening in the world. One day his candle was put off by the wind. Then he saw an old woman lighting the candle for him. He asked her, “hey, old lady, who are you?” She said, I’m your wife and we are married fifty years. I have been looking after your needs so long”. He was shocked and ashamed of himself for neglecting his wife so long. He named his great book after her to compensate for the mistakes.
We miss a lot of things in life when we are busy making money. In India many young men go abroad to earn better. They miss the happiness in watching their children grow. Their children miss their fatherly affection and care during that time.
One of my friends visited his son in the USA. He was staying there for a few months and returned to India. I asked him about the life in the USA.
He said, “The USA is a rich man’s hell and India is heaven of the poor”.
Let us work hard to earn well. However, let us not do it by sacrificing our real life for it.
