One of the richest BSP leaders, Deepak Bhardwaj (62), was today shot dead by three men at his south Delhi farmhouse. He had contested the 2009 Lok Sabha elections on a BSP ticket from West Delhi constituency but lost to Congress. Affidavit filed with the Election Commission in 2009 depicts that he owned agricultural land worth Rs 368.22 crore owned buildings worth Rs 28.75 crore besides other assets. His wife had land worth Rs 100.35 crore.
The slain leader was into education, hotel and real estate business and had declared assets worth around Rs 600 crore in 2009. He owns a school Shiksha Bharti Public school in Dwarka.
He was killed at about 8.55 in the morning by three men ridding a dark grey Skoda car at ‘Nitesh Kunj’ farmhouse, Rajkori.
Police said, “they entered the place saying that that they have come here for booking the place for a marriage ‘. They went inside and started talking to Bhardwaj and shot him twice from point blank range,"
However, the police have found a video footage of the car used by the three men. His wife and son stay away from him at Dwarka.
The police official said that Bharadwaj was moved to Army’s Research and Referral Hospital, Dhaula Kuan where he breathed his last.
