Loffreda D-Day on Tiesi

Argentina coach Marcelo Loffreda will make a final decision as to the status of London Irish center Gonzalo Tiesi after suffering a fractured cheekbone in a collision with teammate Felipe Contepomi during the Pumas 70-14 mopping of a motley Chilean side at the Club Atlético San Isidro on Saturday.

¨If Tiesi has to have surgery, I will automatically look for a replacement. If not, then all will depend on today´s evaluation,¨ said Loffreda yesterday in a press conference.

The recuperation time for Tiesi will be about a month, which will leave him with barely any time to prepare for the World Cup opener against France on September 7th. This will leave Martín Senillosa in the driver´s seat as Marcelo Bosch recently signed with Biarritz and he is already in Europe.

Juan Arango: After writing for Goal.com for three years, I decided to go on my own. One of the most rewarding endeavors is to write here for GroundReport.com.

Besides sports both at the local level and internationally, I will be covering the Super Tuesday proceedings in Connecticut, which suddenly turned into a swing state here in New England. So check me out here as well as in my blog.
